Balconies are decorated during the celebration of the Fiesta de las Cruces ('Festival of the Crosses') or Cruz de Mayo ('May Cross') which is one of the most beautiful festivities in Granada, Spain. On May 3rd many streets, squares and terraces display altars with crosses, decorated with flowers to commemorate the Holy Cross.
