In 1958, Holiday magazine commissioned Truman Capote to compose a personal memoir of his then neighbourhood, Brooklyn Heights. The writer suggested photographer David Attie illustrate the essay, with hundreds of pictures remaining unpublished until 2015. Reading like a short story collection by Capote himself, Attie's images detail a lost time and way of life, through residents, store fronts, and the collective memory of architecture.
