Learning his craft on Fleet Street, the London location synonymous with 20th century photojournalism, John Downing was to travel the world with his camera in a career of over fifty years.
The Welsh photographer, who passed away this morning, will be remembered for both his coverage of the world's major conflicts, and his insightful, evocative images of the UK.
