Feeling it on Monday already? We’ve just gotta make it to Christmas! It’s OK to have check points in a training block. For us, it will be the holiday break when most athletes will head home and indulge in some sort of seasonal festivities. There will be a few workouts where the grind will be solo and coach-less and the temptations to sleep in will be more tempting than normal. Those unofficial mental breaks are OK to take. At the start of the new year, a large portion of our team will head to training camp. And THAT will be one helluva 6-weeks. However, it’s hard to have the intensity maxed out from October 1 to mid-September and the system allows for it. But for now, we choose to fully embrace the suffering.
