In his own words "This season’s bushfires in Australia have been catastrophic for its people and devastating to the country’s wildlife, which is suffering the brunt of global climate change. I’ve spent the past few weeks with a network of wildlife rescuers and “carers” who’s life’s mission is to reduce the suffering of Australia’s native wildlife population, whether it be from road accidents or bushfire burns. One such person is Rosemary Austen, who runs the Possumwood Wildlife recovery center in Bungendore. She rescues burnt kangaroos from areas affected by the fires. Some roos currently in her care she raised as orphans and released them to a wildlife sanctuary hours away - which itself burned only weeks ago. Now, tragically, she has them back.
