Since Britain held a referendum in June 2016, in which 51.9% voted to leave the European Union, the country has seen two new Prime Ministers in succession. Theresa May, and now Boris Johnson both failed to get a deal with the EU approved by the British parliament, resulting in several extensions to the EU withdrawal deadline. In a bid to break the Parliamentary deadlock and gain a majority government, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called a general election for Thursday December 12, 2019. In the three years since the referendum, public opinion is still deeply divided between pro-Eu and anti-EU voters, with both sides hoping for a resolution to ‘Brexit’. | January 8, 2019 | 📷: Jack Taylor |
