On 19th April 1956, Hollywood film star Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier III, the sovereign of the Principality of Monaco. With the civil ceremony having taken place the day before, the church wedding was held at Monaco’s Saint Nicolas Cathedral and was watched by over 300 million viewers on live television. With Princess just one of the 142 titles acquired by Kelly, the celebrated beauty joining a royal dynasty was received as a modern day fairytale.
