“Once you can accept the universe as matter expanding into nothing that is something, wearing stripes with plaid comes easy.”
A mind so gifted that his very name is shorthand for genius, Albert Einstein was born 140 years ago today.
The German-born physicist, and later American citizen, developed a higher understanding of the universe through his theory of relativity, while advocating humanity and curiosity amongst mankind.
A pacifist in principle, Einstein was said to have claimed that “I made one great mistake in my life - when I signed the letter to President Roosevelt recommending that atom bombs be made; but there was some justification - the danger that the Germans would make them.”
Devising perhaps the only equation to have made it into pop culture - E=mc2 - Einstein also had some remarkable photo faces. Explore more via the bio link gettyarchive.
