According to NASA scientists and the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC), sea ice in the Arctic appears to have reached its lowest maximum wintertime extent ever recorded on March 7. Scientists have said the Arctic has been one of the regions hardest hit by climate change.

“I had the immense privilege to join NASA’s Operation IceBridge once again for a series of flights monitoring polar ice loss, this time over the Arctic Circle. I initially joined them for flights over Antarctica last fall and was lucky enough to join a few flights last week from Greenland.
