"Hundreds of veterans supporting the
#StandingRock activists marched from the camp to this bridge during a blizzard." - olsongetty

"This photo was taken on highway 1806, a road, now closed, that runs along a slight hill above the camp. The road would normally carry travelers to and from Bismark to the Standing Rock reservation. The police have the road closed a couple of hundred yards from the camp at "Backwater" bridge. The bridge serves as a DMZ between the the police controlling the north end and
#activists from the camp controlling the south end. It also serves as a buffer between the camp and the controversial pipeline. Some of these vets, overcome by strong winds and cold needed medical support to make it back to the camp. At the very end this small group linked arms and began calling cadence as they made the return march to camp followed by two native American veterans on horseback." - olsongetty | December 5, 2016 |
