"Shooting into a dark background is one of the first things a sports photographer looks for because it helps make the subject stand out and become the center of attention. With many lifts I decided to get creative and start blurring the weightlifter to create a sense of drama and movement. You can feel the effort and pain the athlete is going through based on his facial expression and gaping mouth. It was challenging to capture a sharp photo of the athletes face while creating the blur behind him. This one stood out because of the vibrant Spanish colors.
