This is Chip Somodevilla, staff photographer with Getty Images, and I’m excited to be taking over our Instagram today, as we begin our coverage of the 2016 Republican National Convention. We’ve been in Cleveland for the past few days, preparing for what promises to be an exciting event.
When we photograph from the floor of the
#convention, our cameras are connected by wireless remote triggers; so when the
#camera in my hand takes a photo, so do the
#remotes hanging from the catwalks above. These two photographs were made at almost the exact same moment, but show two very different perspectives. Without the remotes, the variety of angles would not be possible.
Remotes can be technically difficult to put in place and must be done days ahead of when the first speaker will take the stage. So, with many unknown factors at play, it’s not always a guarantee we’ll get the photos we expect.
