"I was privileged to be there and capture the powerful moment"
#YearInFocus
I was covering the unity march in Paris following the terrorist attacks in January. In my mind, the obvious picture was to show the massive amount of people attending, so I searched for a vantage point to get a good view of the crowd. It was to my surprise when 'the glasses' suddenly appeared in the crowd. The striking placards showed the eyes of the late
#CharlieHebdo editor Stephane Charbonnier, who was amongst the first killed in the attacks.
Only later did I find out that they were made by a French artist who goes by the name of JR – France’s 'Banksy' if you will – and that he made them specifically for this march. I was privileged to be there and capture the powerful moment but all credit should go to the artist, JR.
