McGinnis, in Section 60 at Arlington Cemetery, On December 4, 2006 while on patrol in Adhamiyah, Iraq a grenade was thrown into Private McGininnis's HMMWV vehicle, Instead of jumping out of the gunner's hatch he laid over the grenade, absorbing the blast and was killed instantly but saved 4 other soldiers in the vehicle.
