Following its EIVA championship win against George Mason, Penn State earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Nittany Lions earned the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 seed UC Irvine in the first round at 4:30 p.m. on April 30 in the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California.
On Saturday, the Nittany Lions won three straight sets to win 3-1 (24-26, 25-22, 25-22, 25-13), capturing the EIVA Tournament championship.
The first set started out evenly, as neither team was able to gain a lead greater than two. With the set tied 5-5, Jack Bolz got a kill for George Mason, making the score 6-5 and electrifying the Patriots fans in attendance.
