#ThisIsGrassroots: “Leaving behind my friends and family was the hardest part about leaving Nigeria. It was a definitely a leap of faith. My parents often remind me and my siblings how important God is in our journey in life and to always thank him for the blessings that we’ve gotten and also for the ones we are expecting. I moved here to the States at 14 to play basketball at the highest level and hopefully get an opportunity to earn a scholarship and play in college. Ball for me is something I love but also a means for me to change the lives of people around me. I’ve been able to be successful on the court because of the things I’ve learned from my brother since he’s been at the level I’m striving to reach. With the help of my family and my faith, I pray that I can use basketball as a means to become a voice in our society and also help people who need it the most.” - Precious Achiuwa (pre5ious)
