When the smoke from of the 1990s vanished, the 2000s blossomed into the decade that would bridge hip hop’s roots with billion dollar industry it was destined to become. From labels pursuing the creation of empires, to rappers realizing they can become their own empire, the potential of what an artist can be from a business standpoint and creative standpoint changed for the better. The market for rap music became bigger than ever which allowed for everyone to have a piece of the pie. From the trap sound brewing in Atlanta to the bling era craze dominating the streets and clubs of New York City, hip hop had never seen more attention from the world.
