YES — you use after applying moisturizer and yes it can be used in place of your spf. it can also be a pre-layer to your spf so you apply a few drops of this and then layer on another spf for ultimate protection (my preferred method). Is it *extra*? Also yes but it gives me a great glow and it keeps my skin hydrated by retaining its moisture as I layer on spf since spfs can be drying!
