Did You Know: The theme for Earth Day 2024 is Planet vs. Plastics. This theme highlights a commitment to reducing the production of all plastics by 60% by 2024.   At UofNH, our researchers are looking at how much plastic is polluting our waterways in order to help water resource managers identify hot spots for plastic pollution. This research, focusing on the Boston, Chicago, and Toronto metropolitan regions, will help to prioritize clean-up locations and to help determine how much plastic is building up in streams and rivers and whether or not drinking water sources are being impacted.   The UNHReasearch team, led by UNH associate professor Wilfred Wollheim, received a $429,900 grant from the National Science Foundation’s Hydrologic Sciences Program for this project.
