What an epic statue and tribute to the one & only brandichastain!! #Repost lagibbs84 ・・・ I started playing competitive sports at 8 years old playing AYSO soccer. In 1999 I was 15 years olds and the women’s World Cup was held in LA and the final was held at the rosebowlstadium. My mom got tickets and my dad took me to the game. We were fortunate enough be seated just behind the goal where the penalty kicks were happening so we had a front row seat to the action! I will never forget the energy in the stadium that day. When brandichastain scored that final goal the crowd erupted and 90,000 plus people were united! I remember the screaming, the high fives, the hugs and the overwhelming sense of pride! That day I learned a few very important lessons. 1. How unifying sport could be! 2. The value of hard work (those women fought tirelessly through 90 minutes of regular play, 2 over times, and 5 penalty kicks in over 90 degree weather) 3.
