As a Fulbright ETA, my goal is not only to teach English, but to participate in cultural exchange. Each ETA has a different teaching schedule and placement. I am placed at Kyrgyz State Technical University, where I teach 4 groups of students ranging from university students to professors, beginner level to intermediate/advanced. Beyond the classroom, all of the ETAs in Kyrgyzstan participate in cultural events, often organized by the embassy. There are events like the American Song Contest, I love English week, and even spelling bees. We also participate and host talking clubs at the american corners and at our placements. Outside of more formal events and programs, we also share American holidays and traditions with our new local friends and colleagues. From Halloween to Thanksgiving and much more.
