Evan Avila ‘19, economics, spent the summer interning at a the U.S. Census Bureau, supervised by Angela Delano ‘95, mathematics. Avila’s internship with the Residential Construction office in the Economics Indicators division of the agency focused on big data—how to collect and process survey responses in the most efficient and precise way possible. Having more automated systems to collect, process, and display the data “would cut out the middleman,” he explains.
