VCOP Spotlight February 2022 CLARENCE FENTON
Clarence started working as a VCOP in July 2020 when his neighbor, Carl Moore told him about the group. He initially volunteered at the Front Desk, but quickly moved to Patrol. On top of his weekly patrol, Clarence also serves as the VCOP Fleet Manager and patrol trainer.
Public service is nothing new to Clarence. He was born and grew up in Panamá. As a lieutenant in the National Guard, he was the bodyguard of a local mayor and continued his bodyguard assignment when the mayor became the Minister of Government and Justice of Panamá. For a time, he worked undercover and was involved in cross-border investigations. Eventually he was transferred to the Fire Department as Chief for the South District of the City of Colón. He continued it that role until the overthrow of the Panamanian government in 1968.
