VCOP Spotlight Janaury 2022 TONY ANTONUCCIO
Tony began his career as a clerical support staff member to an Air Force squadron based in Virginia. When he was discharged after 2 years, he took a job as a financial manager in a large corporation in Massachusetts. Eventually a corporate takeover afforded Tony an early retirement offer at age 57, and he knew a good deal when he saw one. By 1995 he and his wife had moved to Florida. Two years later he was recruited to be a VCOP. And at 86 years old, he’s still going strong!!!!
Tony says he’s always been interested in “police things” and he’s done a little bit of everything as a VCOP. He remembers serving at the Front Desk when it was just a small desk with an emergency button in the middle of the lobby, patrolling shopping center parking lots at the holidays, doing house checks, traffic control, and providing courier service. He just enjoys working for the community and at 25 years of service, he is the longest serving VCOP around!
