canisiushsrow captured the Terhaar Cup and the Foley Trophy for the first time in program history by winning the First Varsity and Second Varsity Eight races against Central Catholic of Pittsburgh and St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute in a match race Saturday on Lake Wilhelm in northwestern Pennsylvania.
"Match racing, with just one or two other boats next to you, is mostly psychological," coach Jacob Filby '14 said. "The boats did exactly what we planned for when they took the lead early and commanded the race from there. We need to be the ones dictating the pace from the start, and the boats did a tremendous job with that."
In the First Varsity Eight, Canisius finished with a time of 6:01, with Central Catholic at 6:03 and St. Joe's at 6:38.
