Just like old times! Gene Alley, a professional baseball player from Richmond, stood beside fellow Pittsburgh Pirates teammates Jackie Hernandez (2) and Bill Virdon (41) at a reunion game between their former 1971 championship rivals, the Baltimore Orioles. #ThisIsVirginia Alley once told Sport Magazine columnist Roy McHugh: “To play on a team that wins the World Series is the biggest thrill you could have in baseball. I don't think anything could compare to it. Somebody can hit 50 home runs in a year—which is something I didn't do or even came close to. I don't know what that feels like. But I can't imagine it being better than winning everything.” The second photo is of Alley in action at the big 1971 World Series game.
