We are more than the sport we play. We are Humans first and Athletes second. Society has put this label us that we are gladiators or that the world has access and privilege to speak on our lives and how we should or shouldnโt live or even what emotions we are allowed to show. There is this false perception that, โweโre perfectโ or we donโt experience the same life challenges that a โnon-athleteโ may face. If only those on the outside looking in understood the amount of pressures, anxiety, and mental challenges that we have to push through every single day to be the best that we can be on and off the court or field. Athletes are not just your entertainment. Some are mothers, daughters, fathers, sons, parents, role models, leaders of our community. We are so much more. We Are Humans.
