Did you know avocado trees have shallow roots that need continuous moisture to fight the effects of drought? The challenge for growers is that overwatering avocado trees can cause anoxia, or lack of oxygen, which is fatal to tree roots and negatively impacts crop production. Therefore, growing quality avocado crops to meet the growing demand is not as easy as it sounds. Avocado growers in Chile, an area known for cyclical droughts and high clayey soils, are finding that nanobubble-enriched irrigation water is a chemical-free and sustainable solution. Nanobubble technology not only increases the dissolved oxygen at the root zone promoting healthier root development, but also increases water infiltration and availability at the root zone and reduces disease pressure. The result: avocado growers see better tree development, improved caliber fruit and increased yield. Learn more about how to combat root anoxia for avocado trees in our blog.
