Jake Jones was one of the pioneers of the JSBL, winning 3 championships at Jerry Lynch’s. Despite his reputation as an elite shutdown defender (which ultimately enabled him to make an NBA roster), Jones was a complete player in the JSBL where he had a 26 point finals performance in 1971 and a 22 point finals performance in 1972. Jones’ message to younger players to work as much on their defense as much as their offense is a strong one today, as the game has become so much more perimeter oriented that those that cannot guard in space find themselves as the offenses’ target or worse, on the bench. Thank you Jake for coming to the “55” championship and ceremony last summer. It’s always a great time talking to one of Neptune’s finest! #JSBL #JSBLHoops
