At the start of Asian American and Pacific Island Heritage Month, we are diving into the history surrounding the newest national park site. Amache, also referred to as the Granada Relocation Center, located near Granada, Colorado, was one of ten sites where the War Relocation Authority detained Japanese Americans during World War II. More than 10,000 individuals, the majority of whom were American citizens, were unjustly confined there from 1942 to 1945. Amache serves as a space for contemplation, renewed dedication, and advancing the cause of freedom and justice. Secretary of the Interior secdebhaaland formally established Amache National Historic Site in Colorado this year on February 15th. #AsianAmerican #PacificIslanders #AAPI #HeritageMonth #Amache #NewestParkSite #Granada #GranadaRelocationsCenter #Colorado #Japan #Memorial #AmacheNationalHistoricSite usinterior 📸: NationalParkService Images: Shots of the guard tower and memorials at Amache National Historic Site
