Last night, we joined community members and attended one of many vigils held across Australia to remember those who have been killed by domestic and family violence.
Crime Statistics Agency figures show family violence incidents in Victoria have increased by 2% in the year to December 2023. Every year, our frontline police attend over 93,000 family violence incidents across the state - that’s one family violence incident every six minutes.
The vigils are a call to action and mark the beginning of Domestic Violence and Family Violence Prevention Month.
Victoria Police is committed to working with and for the community, to end domestic and family violence, this month and every month.
Learn more about the ways you can report family violence via the link in our bio, ‘Family Violence' tab.
