Journeying with smiletrain deep into the heart of Vietnam, I found myself two hours outside of Hanoi in Thọ Nghiệp, where I met an extraordinary family. The father and three of his four children were born with clefts, symbolizing both their generational challenges and resilience. I was moved by the profound impact that advancements in care have had on their lives—care that wasn’t available when the father was young.
