Being from Guatemala, raised in the United States, I find myself wondering a lot about my background. It’s interesting that the more I dive into it, the more I realize what I thought I knew about myself was wrong, BUT all for good intentions. Xinca was the original tribe that was in my family’s hometown, of course due to colonization, most of the Xinca traditions were a bit washed away… the native Xinca language actually died in 2006, which is crazy to think about because it wasn’t that long ago!!
