No citrus celebration is complete without a toast to the trees! 🍋 Our luscious lemons (pictured here) come fresh from the Perricone family farms in Southern California. It seems so easy: all it takes is 1) the warm climate and the rich soil in the groves 2) making sure to pick the fruit when its ripest and sweetest. But it’s anything but easy. 😅 It took farmers thousands of years to get lemons grown around the world in the way we think of them today. (Did you know lemons are a hybrid between bitter oranges and citrons?) No one knows when lemons were first cultivated, but they're thought to have been first grown in northeast India, Burma, or China and they made their way to Europe by the 2nd century CE (aka Ancient Rome!). Today, the world's top lemon producers are India, Mexico, China, Argentina, and Brazil -- but we like to get ours close to home (the fresher the better!).
