How do I even explain....Well, first of all, growing up in the inner-cities of Houston, TX was not easy. It seemed as if all the odds were against me. One, I was black, and two, I was underprivileged, but I was determined. I persevered, I pushed, I worked harder than the next, and I earned the opportunity to be in the position I am right now.
My road to my success is blanketed by family's love, etched by struggle, taught through faith and owning all of it within. The littlest spec of sand has its place in the earth, just like the hardships of my childhood homelessness and struggles that defined who I am today. It takes grit and being in the dirt to earn the wisdom of life's grace and to be able to hold a dream in my hands. It allows me to stand toe to toe with my opponents; to use everything I have for the purpose that I have been called to do, remembering to always keep one word in mind, “HUMBLENESS".
