Last month, a team of Tuck and thayerschool students ventured to berkeleyhaas to compete in the 2019 patagonia Case Competition! The team was tasked with answering the question: “How can Patagonia Provisions produce all its food products in packaging that is reusable, biodegradable, renewable, or easily recyclable by 2025?” For their solution, the students looked to the sea. “Our proposal was straightforward, but potentially transformative. We pitched seaweed as a feedstock to produce marine compostable bioplastics,” write T’19s Matt Baer and Galen Carroll on #Tuck360. “While we didn’t come away with the top prize, we have been energized by all of the incredible people we met and ideas we spent months thinking about. The best part is that the story doesn’t end here for us. The rest of the team is still thinking about how we might make seaweed bioplastics a reality someday.” Read their blog at the link in our bio!
