Our first solar install definitely started a conversation, but we knew we had to go bigger to make a real impact. So, over the years, we’ve installed solar throughout our Valley, including at the Colorado Rocky Mountain School campus. Then this summer, we opened the Hub, a 150-bedroom housing building covered in solar that’s all-electric (the electric grid is 50% renewable now and will be 100% in 2030).  “We didn’t do these projects because they were slam dunks or made us money,” says Auden Schendler, ASC senior vice president of sustainability. “We did them because we were trying to support a nascent industry and model possibility for others.” Today, we continue to work with our utility to support clean energy. We’ve got solar and micro hydro, and spearheaded a coal methane plant project nearly a decade ago, which converts methane to electrical power for our local utility grid.
