Decorative “azulejos” (tiles) began to appear in Andalusia (Spain) around the 13th-century and the Portuguese King Manuel I, fell in love with the “azulejo” and brought it to Portugal. “Azulejo” became the national ceramic and remains to this day. Several adaptations appeared over time in each region of the country, with different colors and designs. Portugal is full of wonderful traditions and spectacular handicrafts that deserve to be known.
