Macklemore just dropped a track called “Hinds Hall” in support of the student-led protests against the ongoing war in Gaza.
Last week, Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall was occupied by student protesters, who renamed it “Hinds Hall” to honor the memory of Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old Palestinian girl who was killed by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
Since then, student-led protest encampments in support of the Palestinian people have been popping up on college campuses around the nation. On “Hinds Hall,” Macklemore voices his support for Palestine over a compilation of clips of Gaza and the ongoing protests, while directly calling out President Joe Biden, white supremacy, and the rest of the music industry, all before taking a jab at Drake amid his feud with Kendrick Lamar. All proceeds from the track will go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
