Planning on a drive to the country anytime soon?⁣ ⁣ As part of National Road Safety Week, we sat down with Bendigo Highway Patrol Senior Sergeant Ian Brooks to talk about staying safe on rural roads.⁣ ⁣ With over 40-years of policing experience, and 20 in Road Policing, Ian had some good advice to keep drivers on track.⁣ ⁣ “Drivers in rural areas need to drive to the conditions. It’s that simple.” Ian says.⁣ ⁣ “Our roads are narrower with many hazards in close proximity to the side. Just because the speed limit is 100 doesn’t mean you have to go that fast.”⁣ ⁣ Ian also urged drivers to remember the following when planning a trip away:⁣ 😴 Rest properly the nights before the drive. If you can, don’t work a full day at work and then pack up your family and drive for 6 to 8 hours.⁣ 🍫 Plan the trip to have a break every two hours. ⁣ ⌚ Allow extra time so you aren’t rushing along unfamiliar roads.⁣ 🏛️ Stop in one of our glorious towns and have a look around on the way. ⁣ 🚙 Driving at 5 k...
