Run Hard. Have Fun. If you know my story, you know how meaningful these words are. Growing up, my dad used to leave a note on the kitchen counter before my races that said “Run Hard, Have Fun, Love You.” I didn’t realize until after he passed away in 2016, how impactful those notes would be to my life today. My dad simplified something that I always thought was so complicated. He understood that to be great is to also not take things too seriously. Once I allowed myself to focus on what I could control: working hard and enjoying myself while doing it, I was able to tap into another side of myself. Someone that’s not bogged down by results. Someone that is balanced in the way she views herself and the world around her. His words are a reminder to me everyday to live life to the fullest and have taught me to enjoy running, no matter what happens.
