Welcome to another #ScenicSunday where we go beyond the standard #USNA tour and showcase places around the yard that are not usually seen by the public. This week, we are going to new heights and showcasing a rare vantage point - the Mahan Bell Tower. Mahan Hall originally served as the Yard’s library and theater in 1907. Now it is home to English and various types of history classes as well as the USNA Masqueraders. The public is welcome to experience a production from one of the nation’s oldest theater groups, but the backstage of Mahan Hall and its bell tower require exclusive access from authorized personnel. Climbing several floors of marble stairs leads to the thick, locked door separating the bell tower from the public. After a series of doors, ducts, and hallways, you come upon the midsection of the bell tower.
