National Walk Safely To School Day (
#WSTSD) is a day where kids are encouraged to walk and commute safely to school (as the lovely Kanishka and Jiya from Burwood East Primary School have shown us here).
It’s also a reminder for motorists to slow down and practise patience in school zones.
Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or carer – everyone has a role to play in helping children develop lifelong road safety skills and keeping our roads safe.
If you’re walking your children to school today, remember:
✔️ check for moving vehicles before crossing
✔️ hold their hand firmly
✔️ put away any distractions when around the road.
If you’re travelling in and around school zones today, remember:
✔️ drive slowly as per displayed speed limits
✔️ be aware of your surroundings
✔️ do not drive distracted.
