What do Democrats and Republicans have in common? They love football, of course. ⚽️ Last night I played in the Congressional Soccer Match at Audi Field. The event brings together Members of Congress, Hill staffers, athletes, corporations, embassies, and community leaders in support of one cause: using soccer to improve children’s lives on and off the pitch. All proceeds from the event support the ussoccerfoundation programs that provide underserved communities with access to innovative play spaces and evidence-based soccer programs. In a world that can feel polarized and embattled there is one thing we can all be on the same team for: access and opportunity to play the beautiful game. The power of sport to change lives, especially the lives of young girls, is undisputed. That is something I will run, sweat, and slide tackle for!
