Sled sprints are a great way to develop acceleration abilities.
During a sprint, your body only reaches peak power output for a fraction of a second. In order to increase your peak, you have to expose yourself to those levels more. Sprinting with an appropriately weighted sled allows you to maintain those peak power outputs for longer, which will allow you to increase your ceiling overall.
Sled sprints are also a great tool for practicing projection and retraction and the slower speed (at high force outputs) allows you to train those technical aspects as well.
