Sony Alpha Female+ grant winner hannahshoneycomb has this fun fact to share on National Honey Bee Day. 🐝 Did you know that all of the workers in a colony are female?!  They’ll each complete a series of amazing tasks throughout their life, ranging from feeding young larvae, building wax, storing honey, taking care of the queen, guarding entrances, foraging on flowers, and more! The queen is the only fertile female in the colony though, so she’s a busy bee focused on laying eggs. You can tell her apart from the others by her dark and bald back, longer abdomen, and can often be found surrounded by a circle of attendants.
