If it feels like everyone on TikTok is making butter, you're not imagining it. Footage of heavy cream being poured into jam jars, protein shakers, and stand mixers are becoming inescapable on TikTok’s For You Page and currently #ButterTok videos have just over 280 million views. The trend has been “extremely popular” over the last eight days, and is expected to continue that way for the next week, TikTok says. But why the inundation? Beyond the appeal transforming a liquid into a tasty semi-solid – or even just finding out that butter comes from cream, which many users have learned for the first time from these videos – making butter at home is becoming a matter of saving money in certain areas, like the UK, where inflation is increasingly pushing up the cost of food. 🧈 full story at the link in bio 📸: Getty Images
