To the average eye, this is a picture of a stuffed animal bear sitting on a bed. But this isn’t any bear. This is Woodles. And this is the bed of a 38 year old woman. My bed. Woodles is turning 30 years old this year and is the very first thing I bought with my own money at the age of 8. He has traveled from bed to bed through all my moves and been with me through every phase of my life. His neck has been surgically repaired (by my mom) at least 4 times and he’s embarrassed to say how few times he’s been bathed in his life. When we had a house fire a few years back and our house was reduced to a single palette, Woodles held strong. He’s been with me through thick and thin and is always up for a reassuring cuddle.
