“Nights Like This” I have felt conflicted about sharing these images. It has been a month since I first went out to document what was going on here in Minneapolis. After watching the video of George Floyd taking his last breath, I felt helpless. After some thought, I knew I wanted to use my talents and my platform to bring awareness to the situation and to what would follow no matter the cost. This wasn’t fun for me… but as coverage became more prevalent I saw more people show up and use the situation as some sort of thrill ride. Getting some weird adrenaline rush from taking photos of burning cars, torched buildings, and grieving people. There have been multiple occasions in all of this where I saw people run into highly dangerous situations with their camera out and come back to show me what they got with a smile on their face.
