No Mow May is under way! – are you ready to let it all grow out? No Mow May encourages people to resist the call of the lawn mower and leave lawns untouched until the end of May so that:
🐝 Hibernators that have overwintered in leaves and brush have a chance to wake up without being disturbed.
🦋 Hungry pollinators have something to eat when they emerge from hibernation: early flowers like dandelions are a key early food source that bees and butterflies rely on. If they are all cut down, there is less to eat.
🌿 Biodiversity can thrive: When pressure is placed on a habitat, only those species best suited to the pressure will become established over time.
